#1 Add More Cupholders

Your boat probably has a few cupholders already, why not add some more? These are useful for so many things: fishing tackle, sunscreen bottles, sunglasses, phones, keys, AND drinks! Different styles of cupholders are available that slip in to your existing cupholder holes, some mount by suction cups, or hangers. Stainless steel is a great choice of material for a marine environment. No tools needed for most installations.

#2 Upgrade Your Fish Finder or Flasher

Many people think upgrading to a new fish finder, sounder or depth flasher is a big installation hassle. In many cases, new fish finders of the same brand can use the same wiring as well as the existing transducer.  Some newer transducers transmit wirelessly, eliminating the need to route cables.

#3 Install USB Charging Points

Are you constantly watching your electronic accessories running out of juice when you’re hours away from the dock? Add USB charging ports to your boat.  Even if you already have some, add some more so that friends and crew can keep their electronic gear topped off as well.

Some of these units use the existing 12v cigarette/accessory plug. You can also get a double-port receptacle that is mounted along with the other dashboard gauges.

#4 Add Multicolor LED Lighting

Spend a few hours on the boat and replace your old, power-hungry lighting with modern, efficient LED lighting.  It’s just as bright, longer lasting and uses a fraction of the energy your old bulbs do.  Replace galley, cockpit, navigation and courtesy lights with LED lighting that uses the same footprint as your existing lights.  For a great look, add Husuku wireless LED underwater lights to really light up the area around your swim platform.

#5 Make Your Cooler a Seat

If you are using a large marine cooler for beverages, food, fish or bait, don’t overlook the value of using the top of that cooler for extra seating.  Many popular cooler manufacturers, such as Yeti, Igloo, Coleman, and RTIC, make cushions that convert the cooler tops to seats.  These cushions are a way more comfortable option for guests. Don’t forget the cooler tiedown straps to keep the cooler from sliding around while underway.
